INTERLUDE
In contemporary domestic spaces, the formal and functional differences that have always characterised living spaces in various ways are gradually fading. The evolution in culture, taste and functional values is supported, among other things, by the progressive physical reduction in the average size of the home, which tends to lose the complex articulation of the traditional home to the limit of the open space or studio apartment.
For example, very often there is no real entrance area with a dressing room; the traditionally articulated daytime functions of kitchen, dining room and living room are often combined in a single room; the bedroom and bathroom are often integrated; the boundary between inside and outside tends to be functionally and architecturally permeable.
