MAY 2024
2024 marks the 30th anniversary of insilvis: three decades of everyday creativity.
INSILVIS was founded in 1994 in Pordenone, a city in the north-east of Italy, on the initiative of Massimiliano Pavon, following a family tradition of three generations of artists working in the fields of painting, sculpture and architecture.

The project, on the borderline between art and design, and particularly attentive to the symbolic values of form, proposes a contemporary interpretation of the Italian cultural tradition.
Complex and millennia-old layers consider art and material culture as inseparable from the identity of the landscape, the expression of a natural reality that has recorded and incorporated every trace of human events.
This wealth of references is the driving force behind the project, which is finally realised in physical form; the techniques of high Italian craftsmanship, handed down from generation to generation, offer a new sensory perception of natural materials such as metal, marble, wood and leather, often the expression of local territorial identities.
The Latin phrase "in silvis" (in the woods) was chosen to express the initial orientation of the technical and artistic project, which favoured solid wood with a natural finish, assembled without the use of metal parts.
These early years saw the creation of iconic pieces such as pulpits and altars for places of worship, lecterns and tables for exclusive environments.

Over time, contacts have been established with a demanding and knowledgeable international clientele from a variety of cultural backgrounds. At the same time, the opportunities for discussion with international architectural studios and the most advanced references in the world of art and design multiply.
This international openness has led INSILVIS to explore the potential of other materials of high intrinsic quality and durability, each with its own structural, aesthetic and energetic characteristics, applied to different functional categories.
An unconventional style is defined: contemporary for its attention to the evolution of tastes, but classic because it is not subject to the succession of fashions; innovative for its incessant functional research and excellent for the search for uncompromising quality in both content and form. Each object represents a memory of Italian culture in its physical, perceptual, cultural and emotional values.
Being part of a context dense with advanced manufacturing realities allows INSILVIS to respond to demanding challenges, while preserving the original spirit of the craft and artistic workshop. The most advanced production processes are filtered through the artisan quality of Italian manufacturing, with careful realisations limited to small series, bordering on unique pieces, with a "sartorial" perspective.

Particular attention is paid to the hanging.
The scrupulous attention paid to the functional aspects is not a limitation but a stimulus to interpret the objects as true protagonists of the space.
INSILVIS art-design works are characterised by a peculiar balance between form and function, art and design; this is expressed in the iconic quality of the object and its interactions with space, some of which are immediately recognisable, others more subtle and ethereal.
The social and cultural sharing dimension of the functional design object is always supported by an affective "colouring" that comes from the love and care that goes into the design, finish and materials to accompany domestic life day after day.
The plastic representation of an ancient breath, welcomed in the present, in harmony with the harmonious laws that govern the greater reality, is the primary expressive intention of INSILVIS.

In addition to offering an extensive catalogue of small furnishing complements, Insilvis is able to respond to demanding furnishing and fitting requirements in synergy with local manufacturers, either to its own design proposal or to the customer's design.
